Research question
How can cooperation between institutions exchanging forensic DNA data be improved and those exchanges used for research? PIES (Prüm Implementation, Evaluation, and Strengthening of Forensic DNA Data Exchange) combined the study of exchange practices with analysis of cross-border crime.
Consortium
Seven institutions in four countries: the NICC in Belgium; the Sous-Direction de la Police Technique et Scientifique in France; the Nederlands Forensisch Instituut, the Nederlands Studiecentrum Criminaliteit en Rechtshandhaving and Leiden University in the Netherlands; Northumbria University and Sustainable Criminal Justice Solutions in the United Kingdom.
Europol participated as a partner without receiving funding.
