NICC - National Institute of Forensic Science and Criminology

I have been working at the NICC since 2010. My role is twofold, combining research activities and strategic responsibilities.

Alongside my CDO duties, I continue my research within the Criminology department. My research focuses on:

Analysis of criminal justice data, recidivism, and criminal careers.
The KG4J (Knowledge Graph for Justice) project aiming to structure complex information in the criminal justice domain.
The reasoned application of artificial intelligence and knowledge graphs in the public sector.

As Chief Data Officer (CDO), I am responsible for the institution’s data governance strategy. My work consists of:

Developing and implementing a data governance policy.
Conducting data audits and preparing the institution for the challenges of artificial intelligence.
Designing knowledge infrastructures for better exploitation of forensic and criminological data.
Ensuring traceability, quality, and ethical use of data within the organization.

The NICC acts as a laboratory allowing scientific rigor to be confronted with the operational requirements of a federal institution.
